COURSE OUTLINE
Getting into the 'Creative Flow'....
Over 2 days you will use the knowledge and methods demonstrated from the comprehensive induction by the tutor, Penelope Rose Cowley. To create your own unique expressive wave form. Building up layers of; lean (thin) glazes, wet in wet, block and blend, with impasto energetic foamy textures, splattering, dripping and repeating until you feel your painting has ‘all come together’.
You will learn to self direct your layers; repeating the processes and increasing the multiple effects to create depth, movement, texture and atmosphere. The tutor will facilitate individually allowing you time and space to get into your own personal creative flow with a guide on hand to help you through the methods and achieve your desired outcomes.
You will experience a sense of flow through the building up layers through different methods and become absorbed in the process. Your mind will feel relaxed, free and enchanted by this wonderful experience of creative making.
Enjoy this 2 day workshop and fully immerse yourself into the Creative Flow of Ocean Waves.
When Penelope Rose Cowley created her Ocean Wave painting she remembers:
" About 22 years ago, I'd just landed in Mexico and I was standing on a beach in Cancun. I had just got to the hotel and the sun was about to set. I immediately stripped down to my grey swimming boxers and orange crop top. The sea was surreal, so unreal from the opaque, silt clouded cold north sea I grew up in. This ocean glowed, reflecting bands of prismatic splits of blues, greens, lemon yellows and pinks from the low setting sun. As waves curled up towards me I ran towards them like an old friend and wrapped my arms around the swirling currents till it freed me again. The waves I created remind me of the feeling, made with layers, splashes, flicking, impasto, glazes, layer upon layers repeating like the constant shoreline of every coast I have ever set foot on. The process invokes the memories, the memories provoke the action into a state of flow. My mind is completely absorbed. It's a beautiful feeling"
You will need to purchase your own materials, canvas and sketchbook. However, Texture Paste, Glazing Medium and Impasto Gel medium is included and is available to share.
Remember to register your interest by emailing your tutor directly: Penelope Rose Cowley [email protected]
