Background: My husband David Cowley had Hep C, 6 years ago he got treated by getting on a trial. It was amazing and he was completely cured. However, when the treatment became available it was priced so high that insurance companies and health care systems wouldn't or couldn't pay out for the cure. This enraged David so we set up 'Hep C World Generic Treatment' a facebook group that has been going for nearly 4 years. It's a long story... but he has now helped 1000's of people as a facilitator and patient advocate to access affordable medicines. I created this painting because I was inspired by all the people who are fighting or have fought to rid themselves of Hep C. For the many people we have come to know and love over the years, for those that have survived, been cured and those who sadly passed again before their time. The sale of this print will go toward helping, my darling husband David Cowley who runs the 'Hep C World Generic Treatment' group 24/7 to keep going by helping towards general running costs. Symbolism in the paintings - The cloak in the picture depicts the fogginess David used to get when he had Hep C. It came over him like a frosted glaze and he'd drift of into space. The molecular structure of ledipasvir and sofosbuvir on the trim of the cloak represents the pharmaceuticals that cured him and lifted that fog. The Slayer stands to face The Dragon, otherwise known as the Hepatitis C virus. The Slayer represents the people that have suffered from it or are still fighting it. The landscape in the background is from Broadhaven near Bosherston in West Wales, UK from our honeymoon, we go back every year and thank our lucky stars. If you have been on the group page you may regonise it from the cover photo. https://www.facebook.com/groups/HepCworldgenerictreatment/
